The Museum of Technology is closed for renovation! We will open again on October 30th 2021.

The Museum of Technology tells the story of technology and industry in Finland. It is the only general museum of technology in Finland.

The museum collections represent the story of Finland from when it was an agrarian society to it becoming a leading developer and producer of high tech in the global market.

The museum is located by the rapids of the Vantaa river. The museum buildings were constructed as the first water agency in Finland nearly 150 years ago.

Permanent exhibitions:

The exhibition highlights the role of technology, industry and innovation in the construction of 100-year-old Finland. The exhibition reveals the influence of technology on daily life, work and the environment, showcasing the past, present and future of technology and industry.

Teledreams – a connection over time and place

The exhibition recounts the history of crossing time and space by the means of electronic communication technology. Telegraphs, telephones and radios as well as more modern technologies, such as televisions, smartphones and the Internet, all have to do with humankind’s dream of seeing, hearing or messaging across long distances. The exhibition sheds light on the kinds of technical networks and devices that have been built and on the adoption of new communication technologies and their use in our daily lives.
